Hi there,
Sometimes—when you're trying to make a decision about hiring a consultant—it can be helpful to know a little something about her background. So, let me tell you about myself...
I've been doing business on the Internet since 2000, when I started my first SBI website. SBI was a great tool, but I had a hunger to learn HTML and graphic design for myself... even though they're not really needed to succeed with SBI.
So I took courses, bought books, and educated myself about web design, internet marketing, niche marketing, and many other related topics.
My background is in health care administration, but I've always loved to write, so in 1998—burned out from my nursing career—I launched a freelance writing career. I've done all kinds of writing, including consumer health writing, technical writing, web content development, and copywriting.
In October of 2004, I became a mentor for the now defunct Nitro Incubator program. It was a great one-on-one coaching program that used SBI to teach its students how to succeed in business on the Internet. I had as many as 50 niche managers reporting to me at one time, and I truly enjoyed helping them learn the SBI process.
I quit my "job" as mentor in the Nitro Incubator program after a year as it turned out to be a volunteer position for the most part. But I loved coaching and mentoring people with SBI, so I decided to parlay my skills into being an SBI certified webmaster instead. :-)
I'm Always Looking for New Challenges
I loved being a mentor; it's very rewarding; but I found I was looking for new challenges. So, my next step was to apply for certification as an SBI webmaster, and in the Spring of 2005, I passed the rigorous credentialing process!
UPDATE (12/2006): Assistant/Partner Acquired
Business is good and it seems lots of people need help with using SBI. I was turning people away from my consulting services left and right, which didn't feel good. So, I decided to hire a slam bang assistant I'd been working side by side with for years on various projects... my adult daughter, Jenn!
Jenn had already assisted me in the development of many of my non-SBI sites over the past couple of years. So, when the need arose on a day to day basis for help with my SBI consulting business, I turned to Jenn once again... and she's been a wonderful person to partner with. You can see Jenn's work throughout the pages of our jointly-developed Acadia website.
If you hire me, you might also be exposed to some of Jenn's unique talents and skills. I delegate some tasks to her, especially when they require organizing! But, don't worry, I oversee everything, so you will always get me too. :-)
